history-shorts
history-shorts is a set of scripts I run on my own computer to make the animated history maps on the YouTube channel @MapsThatMove. It is not a service, and I am its only user.
What it does with a Google account
The scripts ask for my consent to do two things on my own YouTube channel:
- upload a finished video as private, with its title, description, thumbnail and playlist;
- read that channel's view counts and analytics, to see how each video did.
Privacy policy
The app collects no personal data from anyone. It has no server, no database and no visitors: it only talks to YouTube's API from my computer, as me.
- What it reads: the videos, playlists and analytics of the one channel that gave consent. Analytics are totals, such as views and watch time, and name no viewer.
- Where it is kept: the consent token and the figures stay in files on my computer. Nothing is sent anywhere but to YouTube.
- Who it is shared with: nobody. Nothing is sold, and nothing is used for advertising.
- How to end it: consent can be withdrawn at any time under Google Account, third-party connections; the stored token then stops working, and deleting the files removes the rest.
The app's use of information received from Google APIs follows the Google API Services User Data Policy. Questions go to the email address at the bottom of this page.
